PROVINCIAL NOMINEE PROGRAM

Since Canada has been a land of opportunities but at the same it’s not that easy to grab those opportunities unless you hold a valid visa or permit to enter, live and work. The provincial nominee program has played a very vital role in migrating the skilled workforce to Canada in the last few years. Considering the facts and figure from Statistics Canada, the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) has welcomed over 40,000 new immigrants to Canada in 2022. These numbers are even more than those accepted through the Express Entry-managed programs. This has been an incredible and an increasingly popular method of obtaining permanent residence (PR).

Canada’s PNP has an interesting history, crucial to know; how the program runs, its priorities, and how can it be used to enhance your immigration chances. In the mid-1990s most (88%) of Canadian immigration was focused in three provinces (that are still the most populous) — Ontario, Quebec, and British Columbia. As a result, the other provinces; Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and the Atlantic provinces (Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland, and Labrador), and the Yukon and Northwest Territories realized that a significantly smaller proportion (12% of immigrants) were being shared between them.

Which caused a serious problem to the social and economic goals of these provinces, and set the groundwork for the innovations that were to come; as the provincial governments looked for a way to make immigration to their provinces more enticing to foreign workers.

First Express Entry PNP Draw Sent 893 New Invites For PR in February 2023: specified Express Entry draw since June 2022. To be an eligible provincial nominee candidate, one need to supply evidence to substantiate that they meet the eligibility criteria to be able to make an impactful contribution to the provincial economy and society. The provincial or territorial government may consider the application based on the demand of specific occupation and current market needs. On the other hand, the most important factor is the candidate’s pure intention to settle in the respective province or territory.

  • Alberta
  • British Columbia
  • Manitoba
  • New Brunswick
  • Newfoundland and Labrador
  • Nova Scotia
  • Ontario
  • Prince Edward Island

  • Yukon

However, the Provincial Nominee Program has been classified into two categories:

  • One of the best route to gain the nomination and additional point is under Express Entry Application.
  • Another one is without Express Entry program, mean; an independent Permanent residency program to specific province and territory like: Quebec, Saskatchewan etc.
